Chef
KIMMY TANG
Recently returning from extensive travel throughout Europe, Tang set out to discover traditional recipes from Greece, Hungary, Spain, Romania, France, Italy and Germany, and is excited to incorporate these inspirations into her Vietnamese food at 9021Pho in Beverly Hills.
Tang’s menu reflects the woman herself, and is packed with warm, familiar dishes jazzed up by vivacious spices. Entrees include a spicy basil chicken with bell peppers and chili, and sweet-and-sour star anise salmon with lemongrass, honey and lime. On the vegetarian side, there are choices like grilled eggplant with pan-fried garlic, shallots and peanuts, and “Buddha” curry over vegan chicken with sweet peas, yam, carrots and onion.
Tang has also reconnected with her roots with a trip back to Vietnam in 2009 allowing her to expand her Asian cooking repertoire.
Tang has been working in California restaurants for 23 years, opening her own pan-Asian bistro, Michelia, in 2001. Michelia, well-known for its novel interpretation of Asian flavors and charismatic atmosphere, quickly became a favorite among food critics and celebs including Jackie Chan, Collin Farrell, Larry King, Keith Richards, Sidney Poitier, and James Woods.
